ok nice

this is a really nice sounding compressor for drums. Im thinking about
regging it tomorrow.

HOWEVER:

Has anyone out there tried the sidechaining ...

Specifically, I am trying to duck the bass using the kick

I have a Kick on Session Track ONe. I set the output
for the Kick to ch 3+4

I have a Bass (audio clip) on Session Track Two. Set the input for this Track to 3+4

Placed the Compadre on Track Two in the Bass chain.

Sidechain is on. Key Input is on

So ... Track 2 (Bass) should be recieving the Kick from Track One .. and compressing the bass down to leave room for the kick

However I dont know if this is what its doing or not .. seems like it
but

Am I hooking this right? Anybody else try it?

I also want an compressor that can compress the bassline using the the kickdrum as a the key-input.
I tried the demo of this plugin, and it did seem to work at first. But when I tried to exit Live, I got all kinds of error messages en it seems like te compressor now corrupted the project......
I've tried several compressors that can take inputs from other tracks, but none of them work fine in Ableton.
I don't know if this is an Ableton or VST issue, because I cannot test these plugins in other hosts. Maybe someone can test them in Cubase SX, for example?

Yes - the more people try this the more we can either confirm or deny that it works with Live

if not we really need Ableton to fix this

Update:

Had some crashes this morning, Live locked up and gave me
the "serious program error has occurred" msg

I believe the culprit was this VST. could be wrong tho, had some
other factors going on

It really is a great sounding compressor with great features, hope
it wasnt this and hoping the sidechaining will work ..

Hi,

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe Ableton has fixed a problem with multi-input VST's in Live 4.1.2.

I can confirm that Compadre works very well with Live 4.1.2 and it's possible to setup true stereo sidechaining fairly easy.

I've put together a video tutorial showing the basics of hooking up stereo sidechaining in Live using Compadre: Download here (7,48 MB)

Remember, I have no prior experience with Live before testing this out so there might be shortcuts and way to speed up the method that I'm not aware of. :-)

Anyways, hope it helps.

Best regards,
Rune

This is the beast sidechainer I've found yet, best overall compressor too I think. I've been trying not to use the demo too much cos i cant afford anything new just yet, but I think I'm in love.

If you're on a PC you have to try this one, all the other Golden series too while you're at it. Actually, for the money, the whole set is well worth it. When you consider how much Waves plugs are, these absolutely thrash the tits off them, both on price and performance, the eq is fantastic.
