djing w/ apogee one and djm 800

I want to dj w/ableton, apogee one, and djm 800.
Will this work if I set up my ableton outputs to mono (output 1 will go from my apogee one to the djm 800; output 2 will be the my headphones (cue) mix.
I'm not very familiar with the djm 800 (I rarely dj), but I looked at the manual online and it looks like if I were going to plug one rca cable into the djm, all I would need to do would be to switch the master section on the djm to mono. Does this sound right?
