trackpad gestures
is it not possible to use the pinch (and un-pinch?) gestures to zoom in and out with the Apple Trackpad? i'm running OS 10.6.8 for now, by the way... any help would be real nice.

No. Live lives in its own ecosystem. Like a parasite. 
The cursor isn't native. You can't use gestures. There's no Cmd+M minimize shortcut. You can't close the window without closing the app. All the icons in the application are no more than 128px.
