disable space bar - stop

hi there,

i have a question which is a bit silly:
i am part of a two man live act, we both use ableton live but don´t have our machines synchronized via midi (dont ask why, we tried lots of different things, maybe that´s my next thread... :) ), so i prelisten to my ableton sequences and adjust the tempo. after i did that everything is fine - exept this one thing: my band mate uses the macbook keyboard to trigger his sequences and about 2 or 3 times a live set he is touching the space bar accidently, so his set stops while mine keeps going – and that really sucks, because i have to synchronize everything again, and even worse: if i am playing my sequences and he stops his sequences, he is not able to synchronize it (just because he doesnt know how to do it), so we have to take a break and he has to start again and i have to synchronize my sequences again. sigh. is there any way to disable the space bar so that there´s no possibility to stop the live set accidently?

I suppose you could use key mapping to map the spacebar to something innocuous like an empty clip slot?

Seriously get your computers synced up!

have you got audio interfaces with midi in out? or have you tried syncing over a network connection?

we tried various options. the problem always was that either his or my ableton sometimes had a very short tempo delay when starting big wav loops. so although we were "in sync" with midi clock, one computer was a little faster or slower than the other. and because the computer thinks it is in sync, we were not able to use the tempo nudge function to get in real sync again. we also tried to make all our loops to access from RAM but that didnt solve the problem either. we tried that with regular midi boxes (which we also stopped after a few gigs because if the usb box / the cable lost connection, everything was lost completely) and also with wifi sync which worked quite well for us, except the point with the tempo delay...
