I have a computer that only has USB. Im looking to buy an audio interface to use with ableton. My friend found a cool one but its got a firewire output. Is there any way this can work with my computer? Do i have to use a usb interface? Suggestions for an interface i should look into? Looking for something with 8 mic inputs.
Thanks in advance!

If you only have USB on your machine then your options are:
(1) Get an interface that supports USB
(2) Add firewire to your computer somehow
That second one there is generally only going to work for desktop machines where you can get a Firewire expansion board.
Unfortunately I don't have any experience with any 8-mic-input USB interfaces. Good luck though!

Firewire might not be a major problem. Cards are cheap.
I got a PCMIA card for a laptop so I could capture digital video on my laptop. It works fine.
Just because you don't have firewire doesn't mean you can't get it cheap.

I totally forgot about PCMCIA firewire - yes, this can be a solution too!
