live 8 and latency

Hello,
iam using live 8.
While recording audio from a external device (nordlead) causes a lot of latency.
My interface is the protools 002 and I use a macbook pro.
I made my check in live 8: preference->testtone-> reducing the volume--> reducing the latency---> increasing the cpu power etc.
It doesn't match.
After recording you can edit your audiofile by nudging the audio to the first beat. But when i have to do this every time gives a lot of work.
Working with the protools program the latency is no problem.
Are there other possibilitys to solve this problem?
