Ableton Forum

Ok I'm entirely new to this. I just installed the trial version of M4L along with a few devices. Let's say I downloaded the Granulator for instance, which is a .alp file. I double click, Live opens and says I'm about to install the package here: Users/Myname/Library/Application Support/Ableton/Library. Cool.

I have a couple problems now though:

The first one is that right after the installation of the package the help view opens in Live and tells me there must be some kind of problem with M4L and that I should fix it by going to Preferences->User Account/Licences. And I go online but there is not an option to authorise Max I guess because it is a trial, what on earth? I'm pretty sure I installed it correctly cause every time I open Live it says that I have 30 more days of M4L.

The second one is I can't locate the Users/Myname/Library folder in Finder! Is it hidden or something? This is so weird!!

The last one is I don't see any M4L devices in the Instruments folder.. Isn't that the place where I'm supposed to be looking for them?

Any help is appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Im having issues also. Cannot find it in within the instrument folder etc.

I've downloaded the Schwarzonator II and been trying to use that with the trial version.

I have authorised the trial but still cant get it to to work. How are you supposed to install them?

Ah, cheers man. You still waiting for a fix? djkilldyl also joined the forum for this reason. It's ridiculous, going to a newer version which fixes some of the previous bugs but creates new at the same time.. So annoying Especially when you lose so much time to see what you did wrong when you did nothing wrong!

The worst part is I don't have 8.2.2 anymore, deleted it. Don't see it anywhere on Ableton's site.........

Ya man, I know. some things never change - no matter how many years you allow.
Still waiting for a fix. It could be a while. Like the next update a while.

The thing is, about a week (maybe less?) later after confirming it's a problem with 8.2.5 they sent out a newsletter telling people about 8.2.5 but don't mention a single thing about being unable to demo M4L with it, y'know, a friendly warning for those who would be interested in demoing M4L like you guys. Those kind of dishonest omissions really bother me about the company.

8.2.2 isn't on their site

I ended up buying M4L yesterday after a few annoyed hours and it works fine with the full version.

Still cant get the Schwarzonator to work however. Keeps saying its installed but it is nowhere to be found in my browser.

Anyways I've only just switched to Ableton so I've got plenty to keep me busy for now!

Turns out the Users/Myname/Library folder is hidden. Managed to access it but can't make it visible. Anyone knows how to achieve this by the way?

Alright, I'm contacting Ableton's support too. I don't think they'll repair it this soon though. I only hope for another chance to demo it after they fix the 8.2.5 issue, so that the trial won't go to waste. Let's see...

Eh, no idea why it's not visible. Never had that prob. Is this some new Lion feature ?

Regarding the demo worries: I share your concerns - make sure to mention it when you contact support.

Yeah I did mention everything. Curious to see what their reply is. Will post back here when they mail me back. What did they say to you?

Yes

Try the following to access the user Library folder:
In Finder > press "shift+command+g". Then, in the following window > /Users/yourname/Library > click "open".

I actually did try this but was missing the slash before the "Users" folder so it wouldn't find it. Thanks a lot!

Apparently the M4L demo bug has been fixed with 8.2.6.

It would seem so, what with them saying that it's fixed n all.
