Newb Question Can't hear my keys (MIDI Keyboard IS activated

I was making a track and I am not quite sure what happened. I had a nice synth selected and was playing a melody over a beat I had made. I decided I wanted to work on the beat a little more and was adding effects. When I got back to laying the melody down, I no longer am able to hit keys and produce a sound. What have I done?
Thank You
Brian

Ahhh Ha, I think I got it... Correct me if I am wrong. The monitoring in the track was set to 'Auto', switched it to 'In' and it worked. I'd rather fig simple things like that out by myself than have someone else tell me.
... Am I talking to myself?

Another option is hitting the Monitor button. Next to the level fader of a channel there is channel mute (a number), below that is S (solo), and finally a button with a circle in it that turns red when activated (monitor). When that is on, the channel is listening for midi input (or audio input on audio channels). Usually when you first load an instrument, you'll notice that Live has turned it on for you
'In' works too, but auto is really nice for improvising clips. There are different uses for different settings
