Is there a way to make midi string instruments slide between pitches?

If your midi instrument/plugin/ whatever has a legato feature, enable it and then slightly overlap the notes in the piano roll to achieve a pitch slide.

If you don't have a legato feature, the only option I can think of is to render the sequence to waveform and throw it into a sampler, then automate the pitch to achieve the slide.

There may be an easier way through envelopes and whatnot, but these are the only ways I personally know. Maybe someone more experienced has a better way!
