The operator needs a better CPU Performence! I have the FM7 of native instrument. The FM7 has many more functions and necessarily very much better CPU performance. I find the operator inspirierdend. It´s a super instrument, but the power demand is much too high! My operating system is OSX 10.3.7.

The CPU use is pretty relative to the patch that is playing.
You can lower the CPU use by using less voices, turning down the spread parameter and turning off other unused parameters.
