Hi.. I came across this post

and there seems to be some good tips...

Though im not understanding multiple midi outputs... Say I open an instance of battery, is it possible to have seperate midi channels control different drum elements in battery? One midi channel for a kick, one midi channel for a snare, etc ? Im quite sure it is, ive read the manual but everytime I try to route it I can't recieve any audio.. What's the deal ?

Edit : I had each drum sound on different channels, is that not possible to have a drum sound on its on channel in battery then control it via a seperate midi channel in live ?

Not as far as I'm aware of- and I don't see why you'd want to in the first place.
When you're laying out your kit, you're selecting what MIDI note that sample's responding on. Isn't that enough?

it would make perfect sense that it should work that way. if the channel you have battery in has 'all inputs' selected for midi in.

but agian, it really doesn't seem neccesary. what would the point be?

if there's some advantage to it, i'll try it and tell you if it works for me.

You can control battery using seperate midi channels in live. Just make multiple midi tracks, send all the midi outs of these tracks to Battery and thats it. Battery itself can only be accepting from one channel but you'll still get the same effect because the drum's are triggered on different notes. Then you can mute channels on and off whenever you want to take drum sounds out of the mix or do whatever else it is that you wanted to do.

you can record Batteries outputs to different audio channels.

so what do you want to do? use different midi fx on midi parts?
