Audio is disabled. 8.2.6

Just installed 8.2.6 Suite and always get this message at startup:
Audio is disabled. Please choose an audio output device in the Audio Preferences.
then i set it as Core Audio with Nio 2/4 and the sound is OK till the next startup where i have to set it again. Sometimes the dropdown menu gives me two devices - exactly the same (Nio 2/4) but it doesn't affect the sound no matter what one i choose.
How can i get rid of this ? I never experienced this before (8.2.2).
latest Nio drivers 1.3
Snow Leopard 10.6.8
thanks
edit: trashed the preferences but still..

Same here with my MOTU
Got tons of bugs in 8.2.6 and 8.2.5 (impossible to click on anything, M4L bugs...)
I've gone back to 8.2.2 that I luckily kept!

Hello,
Have you MOTU people updated your drivers recently? They changed them all about a month ago.
No probs here 828mk2, Live 8.2.6
Cheers,
Dean

Have you tried deleting the ableton prefs file?
edit: Oh wait, support got back to you, as they usually do.

I get this (on PC) when my system is using the same sound card as Live and Windows is sitting on the sound card so Live can't get to it. deselect your sound card for your OS.

I think I'm still on 8.2.5. Not had any problems with this on 8.2.5 with the MOTU 828mk3 and Lion though. Solid as a rock except my known repeatable wierd behaviour/crash...
http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=168823 (didn't say they've fixed it in 8.2.6 so haven't updated yet).

Support's advice is download the latest driver from novation site

oh shit the driver! how could i forgot about that!
thanks guys for the input but it doesn't related to my problem. I never experienced this before 8.2.6
every other software (logic, max, reaktor, premiere etc) works normally.
Also, on my Vista laptop there is no such problem - only under Snow.

I installed the latest Motu drivers and the problem persists. Older versions of Live (8.2.2 and 8.2.5) automatically use the Ultralite for sound output, but 8.2.6 reverts to the built in output after every reboot.
