Mopho or Nanozwerg?

I've had a monotribe for a bit, and like the sound. Adds a certain something which is hard to pin down. Also like the control element to it.

So I'd like to get another analogue monosynth, mainly for bass lines, but am torn between these two. Was initially going for the Mopho, but put off by the criticism that the interface is a head blag...could go keyboard version but it would involve saving up for a few months, which will probably never happen!

Are the sounds essentially comparable? Presumably the Nanozwerg will be more 'fun', but will it sound as good? (I've heard - and like - the sounds on the Mopho, but can't find any decent clips of the nanozwerg)

Have seen a few of you have these synths, so just wondering what people's thoughts are?

Cheers.

I would suggest you also check out the Doepfer Dark Energy.

In comparisions with the 'Zwergs it's generally said to be slightly bigger and warmer.
But ofc it only has one oscilator...

I have one and like it's immidiacy (ie knobs for everything and you can patch stuff around) which was why I choose it over a mopho.

:P

Dave Smith is living history of electronic music and instruments, Mopho is a modern classic excellent sound for little money.
MFB is living history of a failure, evidence that analog does not necessary means better and German made does not necessarily mean quality, rather contrary badly designed poorly made products with astonishing failure rate and above all the poor sound.

M.o. - cheers for the heads up, I'll check it out.

rikhyray - thanks for the advice. Tbh, I found some clips last night of the Nanozwerg, and it didn't sound in the same league as the mopho. Didn't realise that they were that bad though, take it you must have had a bad experience somewhere down the line.

Not really, it was enough trying some of their products, makes any Behringer feel solid and of course salesmen, looking amused when you ask for MFB to try "you really want to try THAT, seriously,? OK... go ahead if you want" . Frankly, you cant go wrong with any Dave Smith instrument, amazing value for the money. Todays few hundred $ VST wont be worth 5$ in few years, while DSI might even gain in value.
