Microphone + ableton problem

Post by epoci » Sun Sep 25, 2011 11:21 am

Hey, so i have this problem that just started recently.
Whenever I try recording with mic in my Ableton the sound mutes every few seconds, it kind of hangs.
I thought it may be a problem with magnetism involved, but it records fine when I use Audacity, except there is this buzzing in audacity. Although that buzzing seemed to stop if I take it off the mic-stand....
Any idea what the problem might be? :>

I'm using Blue Yeti usb microphone.

Your mic is a USB-mic with an internal cheap audio interface.
I guess this mic has no ASIO driver (just MME / WDM).

Do you use ASIO4ALL?

For me it sounds like an driver problem.
Try ASIO4ALL and adjust the latency (audio buffer in ms) to a value with no drop outs.

Or spend some money for better equipment ;)

I used a external audio interface (RME FF400) and for vocals and acoustic guitar I use a large diaphragm condenser microphone (Sennheiser MK4).

This sounds like a problem with the grounding of the USB-mic.
