Assigning the modulation wheel

Wondering whether if there's a way to assign a controller knob to act as the modulation wheel? I'm sure this should be pretty easy, but I can't work out how to do it.....

Assuming this is possible, is there a way of assigning multiple knobs to act modulation wheels on different channels (so they can all modulate simultaneously!)

I could obviously map each knob to individual parameters that the mod wheel would control, but I'm trying to use Live for instruments only (tenori-on will control the sequencing). I'm using empty clips to change banks/programmes within soft synths and each patch will have a different modulation wheel assignment.

Cheers.

Well, you need to let us know what type of controller you are using to be your modulation wheel. Your post is a little hard to read but I will try and answer.

In MIDI each port has 16 channels. If your controller allows it you should be able to map each knob to a separate MIDI channel but each knob would send the same CC number (#1 is modulation wheel), You will be programming the controller in its own app not within Live. Then within Live each MIDI channel would be routed to a seperate MIDI track.

Or you could just use an Instrument rack and this would be a whole lot easier. Do yourself a favor and look up Racks in the manual. You can do all sorts of crazy routing with them.

Thanks, realise post is a little confusing.. so apologies for that!

It's a BCR2000, so think that makes sense - I was trying to do it through ableton rather than on the controller.
