Hey!

I recently bought the lpd8 and i love it! I've understood the editor that comes with it, assigned pads, ccs etc.

What i really want to do now, is control basic functions in live like play, stop, rec etc with the lpd. This should be done in the CC mode, but i cant figure out how... :?

Help would be much appreciated

Should be something like:
Press the CC button on the LPD8
Press Ctr-M in ableton (midi-map mode).
Click ableton button.
Push one of the Lpd8 pads.
Exit midi-map.
The pad should now perform the function.

Oh, you may need to enable the LPD for 'Remote' in the MIDI configuration of Ableton.

Although... Now I think about it, I'm not sure that specificly Play/Stop will map to CCs...

^ i'm not at a box with Live loaded on it at the moment, but I seem to remember support for the LPD8 coming in during one of the revs of Live 8 in the MIDI configuration. so the transport controls (play, stop, record) should work.

i also have an LPD8 but haven't used it in almost a year

i'll try and remember to have a look when i get home...

edit: wait a minute.. the LPD8 doesn't have transport controls. i used a Korg NanoKontrol for that. i'm not sure you can accomplish what you're asking for the reason m.o stated above.

I just tried it with my LPD8 and you can map MIDI note OR CCs to Play, Stop, Rec etc.
For some reason I have to press pretty hard to get it to work when I'm using CCs but it's simple when using notes. It's weird.

Press CTRL+M and stuff will turn blue. Click on PLAY the press a pad on the LPD8 the CTRL+M to get out of mapping mode. This will assign PLAY to that pad.

I made a userscript for the mpkmini. As the mini is essentially the same device as the lpd8 just with a keyboard attached the script should work for your device too. Try to load the mpkmini presets via the lpd8 editor. If this doesn't work you could try it the hard way: download the mpkmini editor from the akai side - upload my presets - and one by one copy the settings manually to the lpd8 editor (don't forget to hit upload there). you can then rename the folder with the Ableton Live userscript to LPD8 and make all settings according to my page just adapt them for your lpd8.

This way!
