is there any way to speed up lives sample search it's very slow?

i try pointing to folders but it's still mind numbingly slow

its easier to just search in windows for each individual file

it seem a bit 'guff' for a 'pro' program

It is just f****** slow! We can only hope one will someday improve the search function.

It is very, very slow. I usually spend some time (a few times each search) to find the lowest possible folder, and do a search there, because searching a top folder usually takes forever.

If its a snare drum, I set the folder search all the way down to:
C:/Studio/Samples/Drums/Snares
Second search:
C:/Studio/Projects/Old project/Samples
And usually a few more possible scenarios.

yeah i know what your saying

i hover over to find the name of the old folder. (at the bottom)

electro house/sample cd name/wav/kicks/big kicks etc

then start to locate it ....and completely forget the folder structure i was searching for.

but because i am in a 'folder search window in live', hovering over the lost file doesn't bring up the previous location pop up at the bottom.

to get round this

i can drag from the pc's built-in browser to make the folder the chosen search, (thus being able to hover over the lost file a second time)but the drop area is tiny and not very well indicated


once i tried sample search on the main 1TB drive with 400gb of samples. after 2 days the search had crashed
i replicated the search using XPs "filename" search it took 4 minutes lol
