How to trigger multi-velocity drum samples in drum rack

Hi,
I am able to load my own drum kit samples on to drum rack pads but I have no clue how to get one pad to trigger several samples
based on the velocity. For example if i hit a pad (or key on my midi keyboard) at max velocity (127) i'd like the drum rack pad to trigger snare_hard.wav
But if I hit the pad gently (lets say velocity of 40) then i'd like that drum rack pad to trigger snare_soft.wav
Ableton support emailed me a very vague hint but never really explained how I can set this up.
Can anybody tell me how to do this?
Thanks in advance
Gristle

there are some tabs in Sampler, or an instrumentRack that allow you to see the velocity in a linear red block. If you stack multiple samples in there you can adjust the red blocks to choose different sample per velocity. The tops of the red box have a cross fade as well, so you can bleed samples into eachother etc.

Thanks JuanSOLO,
I'll have a look at sampler. I wonder if I can drag a sampler patch on to a drum rack pad.
Does anybody else have some experience with this?
Cheers

You can drag an instance of Sampler into a drumRack. You can drag a lot of things into drumRacks and other racks, make multiple nested drumRacks even.
Racks are one of the coolest parts about Ableton Live. Learn them.

ok I'm sat here with a snare sample loaded into sampler trying desperately to find these tabs you mentioned. The only reference to velocity is in the MIDI tab but I have no clue what to do in there. Could you give me a hint?

'zone' tab.
drop your samples in there, hit the 'vel' button and right-click the sample list > distribute ranges evenly.
in the Filter/Global tab, set the Vol<Vel value to zero too.
