importing stop buttons / empty slots correctly?

Hi.
How do I import a song to a live set so that it retains its stop buttons as well as slots where there are supposed to be no stop buttons?
I can't find the logic to this.
Sometimes, when I drag a song from the browser to my live set session view, the stop buttons as well as empty slots without them do get imported correctly, but sometimes they don't get imported at all and every slot that doesn't have a clip in it has a stop button, even though the song should have some slots without stop buttons.
How do I import a song to the session view so that it retains all its stop buttons and empty slots (with or without a stop button) as they are in the song, without me having to re-program them after importing a song?
