I want to launch random clips in a midi track and automate a different pitch every bar. I can do this in arrangement view and I understand that I can record automation from session view into arrangement view, but I want the clips to play in random order which cannot be done in arrangement view as far as I know. Is it possible to automate a plugin to work in session view while launching random clips?

sorry if i misunderstood what you were trying to do but here's how I'd do it:

1) Play the clips in random order and record this first
2) In arrangement view set automation for the pitch changes

so it's a 2 step processes instead of one. Of course if you're trying to do this live instead of a studio setting:

send the output of the track that's firing random clips into a track with the input set to "In". Make a dummy clip, and then set the automation from there. Search up dummy clips if this is confusing.
