Anyone know of a way to convert AUDIO to MIDI?
I'm not meaning the 'slice to midi' function in Live.
I've got a piano track as audio that i'd like to convert to midi so that I can find out what the notes/chords are.

I have already googled it and there seems to be some programs out there that do this.
Just wanted to see if anyone had a recommendation of which one to use or knew of another way to do this.

Going to give this "AmazingMidi" a go to see how good it is. Only grabs 30 seconds though in demo.

melodyne does this. its pretty good at the job

That AmazingMidi is crap. It output lots of randomness :S

Isnt it a ProTools plugin? or does it work in Live too?

if you just want to know what the notes are try tuneit vst...isolate a note and look, very accurate, i use it all the time to find key of sample then write bass parts to fit....

I downloaded the demo of Melodyne and got it working
The notes were quite accurate.
Ableton didnt recognise it as a VST so had to use it standalone.
When I saved out the midi file and imported into Live the timing was all messed up :S
So i ended up having to have the melodyne program open and created a new midi clip in ableton and programmed in all the notes manually. It took AGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't cut audio into a loop, it won't be in time either...theres your problem...

Yes the accuracy thing sometimes needs to be manually adjusted

Cubase 5 and 6 do this

+1 for WIDI on the Mac side.
