two related questions, aimed at mac users:

how does hard drive size affect performance?

should the application files be on the same drive partition as the sound files?

(for reference, i'm getting distorted audio and dropouts on my g3 400 book, OSX.2, 192 mb ram, core audio, 6 GB drive that's cut up 3 ways.)

thanks.

it's all about hard drive spindle speed, powerbooks are either 4200 or 5400 depending on drive model, 5400 is ok but I use a 7200 firewire drive, no dropouts since I started with it, if I use the internal drive, I get some.

there is a superduper article on how to partition your hard drive here:

http://www.sciencequest.org/support/com ... oning.html

after reading this article and partioning my drive this way, my general system performance along with live's performance was greatly imporved.

highly recommended.
