Question about Live Performance

Hi,

Getting up and running with Live Lite. I am looking to gig with this, while I play piano or guitar. To that end, need to adjust tempo on the fly.

What are the keystrokes on the computer to easily adjust tempo, please?

Thanks,
Stephen

- select the KEY icon in the top right corner, everything that you can map to your keyboard will light up orange
- select the TAP icon in the top left corner and press the key you want to assign to this parameter. (and exit the key-assign mode)

now when you tap the key in time, the global tempo will automatically be adjusted.

If you have a midi controller you can also set a button on that to do the same thing, just rememnber to select MIDI from the top right corner instead :)

Ok, slick. Thanks.

Now, what key do you recommend I map on the qwerty keyboard? In other words, which one is not mapped by default in thr application?

Finally, is there a USB foot controller I can involve? Playint piano or guitar, the hands will be somewhat busy.

Thank You,
S

well the keys a-l and some above them are assigned as a standard scale with which you can play notes if the piano icon in the top right is selected. if you turn that function off, any of those keys should be available.

Dont know about midi footpedals, have seen them but don't know any models. But a simple google search should get you some results :)

cheers

OK, the mind grinds. :-D

I have a MIDI foot controller. I use that to connect to MIDI gear for performance, specifically guitar gear. Use it to change presets on the guitar gear. That foot controller transmits what the owners manuals says is a MIDI Program Number. That, in essence, is a signal to change a bank on a sound module.

To that end, could this MIDI foot controller transmit the necessary MIDI to do the deed in Ableton Live?

If so, could perhaps use this for changing Tap Tempo and Ableton Live Sets. Hmmm........

Thanks,
S

YEAH!

I take it the foot-controller needs to be set to MIDI out and not MIDI thru? Please confirm.

Kindly,
Stephen

Thank you kindly.

My foot-controller is 500-miles away, so if I am going to make the trip...wanted to make sure all is going to work.

Kindly,
S

might want to get someone to mail it, haha, long way to go! but if you have probs post back up...

you could tap tempo, or set scenes to different tempos and set the foot to trigger them...
