Are any of you fellas "Gear Sneakers"?

This applies I suppose to those of you with "significant others" in the household. You know the deal...you come across a sweet mixer you want for the home studio but you know you'd be better off applying that dosh to paying down the credit cards or getting that new couch for the family room. You decide on the mixer anyway, and now comes the fun part of getting it in through the door up to the studio without the Ms. noticing.
I used to have this issue when I was married years ago, but of course I'm a swingin single rough-rider these days and I can buy whatever I want. I do remember those days though.....I'd buy something and get it in the car for the ride home but as soon as I hit the gas, I'd get a nervous urge to take a massive dump the whole way home. I once told my ex-wife that a set of boxed up shiney new 4X12 Marshall Stacks out in the garage was in fact a new air-handler unit for the HVAC which I'd be installing to save us some dough.

I have a 5-piece drum kit, bass amp w/three electrics and an upright, a Rhodes, and two Chapman sticks w/amp smack dab in the middle of my living room.
Can you tell I'm divorced?

I'm guilty of this, but never for big pieces like you guys. But I can't count how many times I've snuck in rack gear or effect pedals.

I’ve never been in a relationship where my consumerism was a point of contention and as far as music gear it was all one big blob of blinking lights, knobs, and faders and they wouldn’t know if anything changed from one week to the next. And now is the best time ever to be involved in music with all things possible within the computer. I could drop $1,500 worth of plug-ins in my computer and they’d have no clue.

When you get married this scenario will reverse.

Guilty, I like to think I'm keeping the economy going, shit I deserve a fucking medal, selflessly spending money I don't have in order to keep the country afloat.

hilarious. thats like when two people start a secret relationship. then, when they make it public, neither one is interested because they enjoyed the intrigue.
or, its like when you've been seeing a girl for a while and you start doing it in public places and it makes regular sex in a boring old bed much less fun.
