akai Mpk mini questions

Hey guys, never really had to post any questions here before so firstly, Hello and thanks for looking. :#)
Well my question is a bit hardware dependant on the akai. i recently bought this for making some tracks whilst on the move and after finding the control surface in ableton and opening an instrument it seems there are several parameters which are auto mapped to the pots. however, the parameters which are selected are extremely random ranging from pitch wheel to master volume. opening up Camel alchemy will assign pot 1 to performance knob 7 and pot 3 to performance knob 1, the rest seem to be unassigned. now im not asking for novation style full auto mapping but a little understanding wouldnt hurt as to why this is so random.
Id rather nothing gets assigned until i select it to be. I should add that i have only just got this today and as yet have not come to fully understand how the editing software works
