First Im running live 8.2.5 on a Toshiba laptop w/ AMD Phenom II P960 Quadcore with 8gb RAM on Win 7 x64.
Not for the first time Ableton has started to take minutes to load and then basically freeze. If i double click the global stop to reset the timer it will idle for minutes and then reset. I've removed all plug-ins, tried system restore, my CPU and memory appear to not be stressed and all other programs are running fine. My ableton is legal and my laptop has never been online. Last time this happened I was told i had to reinstall but was given no information as to the root of the problem. So as one would expect the problem returned. I'm hoping some one can assist before I contact customer support and get told yet again to re-install and wait for it to happen again in a month.
Cheers.

sounds ike you have midi feedback happening and/or a midi driver conflict. try disabling all the midi input/output ports first and see if it persists. i had similar problems but it was down to a faulty midi setup by me causing feedback with some remote and sync settings that i accidentally setup wrong at some point or another. conflicting drivers can crash a system quite easily on windows.

I've never come across that before but i suspect you are on the right track. I had issues with launchpad and my keyboard after setting up nocturn, or more specifically automap. It's probably never recovered from the config properly. Thank you so much for your analysis. I'm saving your post for future reference.
As it was I saw the 8.2.6 update and installed that which solved my problem probably by resetting everything. Now hopefully i don't screw up reinstalling the nocturn and automap again.
