Saffire 6 + Ableton 8.2.6 Question

Hi there,

Yesterday I purchased the Focurite Saffire 6 USB for my setup. I eventually managed to install the drivers to get the thing working. The "issue" I'm having now is puzzling, and I'm wondering if anyone can help. It may not be an issue but merely an unavoidable situation of my setup.

If I have any audio player open (WMP, LVC, Winamp etc) then when I start Ableton I get the message:
Unable to set the desired sample rate.
Another program is already playing audio through the hardware, please stop all other audio applications to be able to change the sample rate.

I have to close all open applications that might be tempted to use audio, even if the tracks/videos they are playing are paused stopped.

When I'm in Ableton, I can select Focusrite ASIO Drivers and everything works hunky dory but then if I minimise to listen to a track on, beatport, for example, I have to completely disable the audio within Ableton before any other application that uses audio will work.

Have I just been a bit of a muppett when setting this up? Is there anything I can do to get round this? It's not a complete end of the world situation but it is a bit annoying- I'm jumping between Ableton, Beatport, mp3 demos all the time so it would be really handy if a solution could be found.

Many thanks

Be shure to have same samplerate set in saffire s control panel and in Daw or app you re using, this occures when 2 applications with different samplerates use the saffire, eg. one with 44.100/16 bit and other 48.000/24 bit.
Go in windows CP , then sound and be sure to have there same samplerate as in apps used
I play Live , foobar and vlc same time without problems on saffire 6 usb
cheers
