Unable to Export Midi Clip, Entire midi track exported inste

Live 8.2.2 iI need to export individual midi songs from hour long midi recordings to use in a floppy driven synth. I have been importing the hour long track into Session view, copying it into Arrangement view, selecting the song, separating it with Command E, renaming Command R, deleting the non selected portions of the track so that only the desired and selected clip remain. When I use the Export Midi Clip command, the entire hour long file is exported, not the clip. What am I missing?
