Mic/Vocal recording tips..

Post by c33 » Wed Nov 16, 2011 11:07 am

I've a good studio mic but because my current acoustical setup @ home is less than ideal, I *really* struggle at times to get usable vocal takes. It doesn't matter that I record when things are as quiet as possible.. lack of soundproofing is lack of soundproofing, and sometimes there's just way too much "air"/room noise in the mix.

Anyway, I've recently found recording in mono instead of stereo greatly reduces this problem. Filters help too. I'm going to look into making or buying a mini vocal booth (maybe something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Semi-Rigid-Portab ... 175&sr=8-6), but in the meantime, this definitely helps.

Just wanted to pass the suggestion along and perhaps get some additional tips & tricks!
