hi,

quick question: is it possible to convert a sample without any mono content at all into mono? i sampled this sound from a song but had to cut out the mono content (using an EQ) because there was too much other stuff going on in there. now i'm trying to get the resulting sound back into mono, but exporting the sample with 'convert to mono' on or placing a utility set at 0% on the track results in nothing but silence. so is there a way to bring L & R together in mono instead of just cutting them out (which is the only thing utility seems to do)?

any thoughts on this are much appreciated, thx!

i should add it's not a matter of phase cancellation - the exact same thing happens when a channel is inverted..

Alright I got 2 solutions for you:


1) Open the file in your Sample-Editor (WaveLab, Audacity).

2) put Utility with Stereo and Width: 0 (Mono preset) on the channel then record on another Audio-Channel with the previos one set as source.


I had tons of these strange files with data in only one channel until I realized I had recorded my Mono-Mic with Ext. In 1/2 instead of just 2 (that's where my mic is plugged into my Sound Interface).
