Glitches - Pops - Problems

I finally got around to installing the Retro Synth library ...
Couldn't play the demo without glitches and pops - plus as playback progresses, the tempo actually starts to stutter and lags, then catches up, then lags again for a bit. Seems to happen even during moments that don't seem so dense in the track. Even turning a number of tracks off and leaving only two or three playing - same problem. Turning off effects as the track plays doesn't seem to affect it much either as the problem still exist.
Trick of stopping the track, turning the audio engine off and than back on (which has worked fixing previous glitches) isn't stopping it this time.
Ended up having to reboot computer from scrath and that stopped it. I rarely turn this computer off. Perhaps there's some processes I've not noticed running in the background that are sucking CPU cycles that get turned on as I do other work on the machine. At this point, whenever I want to use Live, if I reboot first all seems mostly OK. When the computer has been on for days at a time without a reboot, the problem seems more likely to occur.
During playback of the included demo file - CPU meter seems to average around 20%, with the occassional jump up to 40% or so, and 15% on the low end.
Happy to provide any other info or try stuff if it helps solve this problem, as I've seen other users experiencing it as well.
