Synching to external Audio

Post by Sierra Ex » Fri Nov 18, 2011 11:16 am

not sure if this is possible, but im wanting to remix some songs through the use of ableton and my DJ decks, i dont run them through traktor or anything its just straight from a usb stick, what im asking is, is it possible for ableton to analyse external audio and alter the bpm and warp tracks to the external source? if not at least change the bpm then i can just launch clips out of quantization. i'll be getting a NI audio 6 to route audio into ableton anyway then back out to my mixer but i was just wondering whether its possible or not.

Well.. there's not a command to 'analyze external audio, alter the bpm and warp tracks to the external source'.. but that's exactly what you're there for.. The program just makes those manual tasks easier.

I wouldn't bother bringing your DJ equipment into play.. just pull your mp3s into live (unless you're wanting to record from vinyl - then you'd take your recording and pull it into live).
