need help editing the m4l monome patch "clip mapper"

hello ableton community,
there is a max for live plugin that i use with my monome 256 called clip mapper, but there's a few edits i would like to make in it to make it function more "ideally" for me, and i was wondering if there was anyone out there with some programming knowledge that could help me out, because i am currently learning the basics of max myself.
clip mapper is a m4l plugin that allows you to map a clip(s) in ableton to any button on a 64, 128, or 256 monome. to make clip mapper work you need to drop in another m4l plugin called viewport, which sets up the communication with your monome via serialosc.
this link here will let you download viewport and the original clip mapper patch

the first problem with clip mapper is that it only works with monomes that support variable brightness, which is almost none. i just want to do some mlr style mashing in ableton using live's follow actions, and make it so whenever a mapped clip is playing, the led on that button will be lit up, and unmapped buttons, as well as mapped buttons that aren't playing to be unlit. if you have a monome with variable brightness, all mapped clips are dimly lit, all playing mapped clips are fully lit, and all unmapped clips are unlit. but if you don't have one of the monomes with variable brightness, when you go to map clips to buttons, the mapped buttons are lit up whether they are playing or not, so you never really know what clips are playing and what clips aren't playing.
so i posted
a little while ago, i posted a question about this on the monome forum, and somebody edited the patch for me so that it works the way i described above with the older monomes. here's the thread, the download link to the edit of clip mapper is about halfway down the page:

so now everything seemed to be working stably, but after that i quickly ran into another problem. the way that the clip mapper patch is set up, the live api saves your presets with the ableton set. i need to be able to drag and drop an als file into session view with viewport, clip mapper, and all of the audio or midi clips with my mappings for my sets. but because the presets are set up to save with the live set, if you don't have that specific live set open at the time, presets cannot be recalled, and therefore, you can't just drag and drop an als with all the stuff you need and recall the presets. but i only want to have one live set open the whole time i play a show, that way something is always playing (so i couldn't just keep switching to the set i need) so it pretty much disables me from saving my mappings properly, making it pretty much useless, all over one stupid little problem i've been trying to solve for months now.
is there any way this app could be reprogrammed so that the presets were saved and loaded (similar to max for live mlr) so that i just drag and drop everything i need into session view, and then load the preset in clip mapper manually? i have a 256, so it would have work on a 16x16 grid.
it just really sucks because this is the only thing i can't get to work right on my monome, but it's the one app i want to use the most when i play sets. i don't know where to go from here, i'm just trying to not get frustrated and stay positive, and hope that someone can help me out because my entire live setup will finally be complete when this app functions the way i want it to, and this one little problem is holding me back tremendously. i tried to explain everything as clear as possible, PLEASE HELP!!!
