JESUS how are you guys managing these plug ins? I dont use cracks, but there are still a staggering amount of plug ins in my folder, too much to manage, especially since you apparently cannot use a "custom" audio units folder....

I have maybe two plugins that I must use as an AU. The rest I use as vst and they are sorted into folders by catagory.

I have all my pluggins in racks so I sort them there. An other good thing is I can now use the blue hand on all of them

You can use the blue hand on any plug-in without being a rack. Or do you mean for the sake of saving configurations?

However I too like to create rack presets simply for the sake of organization so that I can keep them in the Live Library by type of plug-in. Saving as a rack also lets you keep your plug-in configurations, so it's the best way to go for sure. Easy to remove the rack after loading if you don't want it.

You're right the blue hand is possible without racks - already forgot about it I configured the macro controls for the most of my plugins, so I can easily use them with my apc.

But, is there any way to manage the LIVE's native plug ins folder? There are many Live plugins I dont need.

Save preset templates into whatever folders tructure you like in Live's Library.

On PC I have an install folder, then I have another organized folder for each DAW with subfolders containing shortcuts to the vsts in the install folder. Organize the subfolders and shortcuts how you want and success.

i always use the search function..and i dont even write the full name of the plugin, say i want guitar rig i just type in "rig" et voila
if i dont remember a plugin by name it means it's no use to me

In Live's library, you can create a folder and save whatever you like in. Make folders to organize effects if you want and just drag your devices into them and use those as your effects folders. If you want you can also use an external folder and make it a favorite for your Live file browser with device presets. There are many ways to organize devices with Live.

This. Works perfectly. Who wants to get familiar with 20+ different varieties of browser when you can organize stuff in one DAW specific format? Basically whenever I find, edit or make a patch in any given softsynth, I then rack it and save it in a folder in the live library browser. The folder is of course part of a folder strutcture entirely generated by me, like "Absynth / Bass" and so on.

Only downside is it's obviously Ableton specific and doesn't help for finding patches in other DAWs.
