OXYGEN 8, Midi assignable but keyboard wont

Just got myself an Oxygen 8, its an older model. Using Live 8.2.6.
Live is picking it up, I can assign the knobs and keyboard keys to any of the parameters/knobs in both Ableton and Sylenth.
Issue is the Keyboard in Sylenth, Piano roll of midi clip or Schwarzenator etc doesnt recognize the keys when I try and play a note.
Have tried the different versions of the Oxygen 8 listed in control surfaces as well as selecting none but to no avail.
I also own logic and tried it there. Sylenth picked it up right away, and I was able to play all the notes so its definitely an Ableton issue, although as mentioned I can assign the keys on the O8 they just dont seem to respond to any of the keyboards.
Been trawling through forums all day and tried as many things as possible but no joy.
Perhaps theres some box or option I need to select that ive overlooked??
