How to mashup a live recorded loop on the fly?

So.
What I would like to do is to record my voice, for example, and be able to mash it up on the fly, I mean without copying clips and assigning stuff manually.
Something perfect would be a different version of Ableton's looper, with the ability to launch the looped clip at different starting points, with pads or keys.
Exactly like recording a 1 bar clip, slice it into 8 or 16 parts and assigning pads on every one, but on the fly (ultimately, for live gigs).
Am I clear?
Any thoughts?
(without Max or Reaktor).
Thanks.
