buchla-inspired/modelled semi-modular. not really one for preset-only users (the presets are mostly noise), but for tweakers it's great. $50 is silly cheap.

Looks pretty neat, you have experience with this synth?

I bought it 10min after the Sale was set to: ON! Awesome synth, nothing like it in the world of softies. Not just the incredible options inside, but the sound is the most "hw" one ive ever experienced. CPU suffers a bit from it tho, but the things you do in here, is stuff you probly resample/freeze, or only have in solo anyway.

Oh dammit. Just found out about the offer this morning, right after it ended. Ah well - I guess I don't *need* another synth, even if it's a very nice one.

Picked this one up last minute myself. Just got in there with hours to spare last night. I certainly didn't need another synth, but this one's a crazy little bugger.

So now that you guys all have it, what do you think of it? Is it particularly creative/interesting/good sounding? How so?

Is there a particular detail that you really like about it?

try the demo. even the demo's white noise interruption is pleasant!
there are a bunch of user-made patches on their forum that are worth checking out (i'm 'garf' there).

just made this evolving beat thing that you can check out with the demo if you want.
copy and paste the following code into Aalto using the 'paste from clipboard' option in the presets menu, set to 100bpm and hit play...

ok, but really, this is just about the sickest soft synth out there. The only soft synth i've played with that almost has the soul of a buchla.

Computer Music distributes a monophonic version of Aalto as one of their CM Plugins. It's pretty awesome. Thanks for the heads-up on the sale for the full version.

What can I say about this synth???

Just one guy who made this synth and it became instantly my top vst after using it for a week or less.
