Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew of any good resources to learn how to mix and master songs. Preferably free but I'll pay if i have to

As he also says in the opening of the mastering section: don't! Focus on your mixing skills. Try to finish as many songs as possible, the thing that i've learned is that experience is the best teacher. Watch tutorials for the basics and try to implement the techniques. It won't sound amazing at first, but keep at it (i'm also in the first stages.)
Remember that experience is the key, not knowledge (i hope you get what i mean
)

is a really good starting point. the book i've posted is great beacause of good examples and a clear speech. is the most read besides the bob katz book (for me).
i have one big tipp.
TRUST YOUR EARS & LISTEN TO VERY VERY GOOD PRODUCTIONS (try to analyze it)
thats what helping me a lot, if you have friends who can judge your results not too subjective is also a great help. learn the fundamentals of frequency ranges but use it with a free mind. some writers in the scene tend to transport a very subjective view focused on just one style, thats not good to learn mixing.
