Some of those look very nice, but Apple only for the moment:

...and "well" priced.
Is that the IRCAM coop that was in the news earlier this year? Or is there more coming up in future?

i expect there is more coming; and not just maxforlive devices (which they say there are a lot more of coming - modallys for live will be amazing). i expect some ircam technologies inside live 9...
i think these devices are overpriced (but that is because i cannot afford them!). but seriously, for that price we should be getting the superVP externals so we can use them ourselves in Max. these devices are locked - i think locked devices are disgraceful and against the nature of max and maxforlive. sadly the ircam tend to price towards the academic mafia, not the solo artist.
so, while i commend the main devices and the news in general, i have a serious complaint:
if a major institution like ircam are going to give away some "free" devices (which they are, and available on that site), they should bloody well give away something good. by 'good' i mean high quality, well patched, well made. opening up the MulitFX device i was shocked at just how amateurish and low quality the max patching is. bad for learning, messy, not well thought through, full of redundant awkward code. i could patch a better version of that in an afternoon. less. i mean really, for anyone releasing devices that is bad, but for ircam that is shocking.
furthermore, the sound quality is awful and algos lame, mathematically 'correct', bad 1980's/90's sounding. again, i could do a much better job than that, and i am no 'pro'.
i thought the point of free devices / etc was to showcase, showoff, tease a bit but provide something usable and interesting. it seems ircam just found some old crap on a hard drive somewhere and made it 'a free ableton m4l device' in 20 mins whilst sitting on the toilet.
rant over, i think it is great news that there are movements with ircam afoot!

There are even a lot more Reaktor ensembles for sale now too. However I cant bring myself to buy an M4L device based on what pid is saying.
You just dont know if your getting somthing quality. If I ever consider buying an M4L patch, it is because I want to learn about the patching, but SO many of the patches I have downloaded and opened are a disaster.

good c++ externals - worth buying. good interface design - worth buying.massive amounts of patching hours saved to achieve something sometime else has done. also worth it.
i'd want decent documentation if I am shelling out tho'.

I don't know about that, but you made me spill my drink
Some of the devices seem pretty nice to me, but
WAY overpriced.
I could never justify forking out over $60 for a single fx plug.
Just paid $10 for the RP Delay, and got a free distortion plug thrown in.
Over $210 AUD for the 'Super VP Collection'

WTF??
I would think that selling at a lower price, that they would capture a much larger market........

typical french don't even have the usa listed as a country
registration is such a pain its not worth the effort
they require a place of birth
basically screw off ircam

i just wanted to pop by again to clarify:
those superVP devices look fantastic, and indeed based on years of quality research. go look at the flux plugins based on ircam technology (supervp == superexpensive, but damn fine devices),
http://www.fluxhome.com/products/packs/ircamtools_pack
my rant and complaint was at the shocking low quality and lack of effort put into the "free" devices.
i am sure the supervp collection is excellent. however, the fact that they are locked is a real real let down, and the single reason i would not buy these even if i could afford them. i just do not understand the locked business, when all of the ircam code is inside hard c-coded externals we cannot see the algos of anyway. these should be a marketing thing for ircam - look how good we max patch with our own custom externals, but no, they are locked max patches. silly silly silly.
if abelton are to team up with these sort of institutions that want to lock their devices, then ableton should team up with cycling 74 and produce a maxforlive runtime. devices like this are crying out for that.
p.s. - windows coming in january 2012 website says.

Luckily I took French in 7th grade, and it still took me 10 minutes to remember: it's Etats-Unis.
From the looks of it, they've got a TIME STRETCHING SAMPLER! Which is fantastic, except Sampler should already have time stretching (c'mon Ableton, make this happen).
The problem I have is with the price. Just way overpriced. I could see $60, but $200 - no way. Too bad, look like some really cool devices.

oh gosh why didn't i figure that one out
maybe because every other country is written in plain english
it is massive snobbery on the grand scale
guess who buys the most goods and crap on the market
yep americans
how about the french call us liberators
and yes waaaaay over priced
a the lemur app is only 50 plus 500 bucks for an ipad
whats the full price for m4l plus this stuff?

Well, I'm not sure about that. It's more something like : "ces enculés d'américains" for quite a long time now.
