Frequency Shifter Delay?

Imagine I have two tracks of the same sound. If I invert the phase of one of the tracks it will completely cancel the other track. However, if I introduce the frequency shifter into the phase-inverted track (set to dry) then I no longer have phase cancellation. Can someone from ableton explain to me why that is? Is there a delay inherent in the frequency shifter?

As I understand it, frequency is the number of cycles in a waveform over a fixed period of time, by frequency shifting the audio, you are altering how often it cycles by compressing or expanding the audio/waveform, which, obviously will pull it out of sync. It's not about the introduction of delay, per se, so much as that you are increasing or decreasing the frequency of one of the tracks which shifts them out of phase. This will cause events on the frequency shifted track to occur earlier or later in the timeline, but it is due to the stretching/compressing of the waveforms frequency, not an identical waveform coming in slightly later.

If its on a dry the effect shouldnt do anything... thats why hes asking the question

That is incorrect. When its off, it shouldn't do anything.
When its dry, it needs to have the same offset as the shifting effect, otherwise the Dry signal would be out of phase with the wet signal.
