Hello,

Does anyone know if it is possible to be able to send MIDI cc controls from ableton? I have a hardware module that can be controlled by a MIDI controller, but without a MIDI controller, I'm wondering if I can edit the module through getting ableton to send MIDI cc's to it. Possible?

Create a midi channel, create new midi clip. There are cc options for clip automation

There is not that I know of, although personally I think it'd be awesome to have a MIDI device with one knob on it that sends a given CC whenever that knob moves. It'd be useful for precisely this reason.

The instant mapping configuration also sends MIDI out on the same CCs as it uses for MIDI in.

Using this approach with an empty rack and instant mapping you can send out 8 MIDI CCs of your choice...

Not sure if this is actually documented anywhere, but it works.

max4live is the only solution untill 1) someone develops a vst/au MIDI fx and b) ableton get their heads out of their asses and let vst MIDI fx act like midi fx and not audio plugins

But, without a controller, how do I create these new mappings?

Hmmm... don't think that will work... the instant mapping, at least what's configurable in the user remote script, is limited to 8 macro knobs.

But I just checked something: if you manually map an incoming CC to a Live macro knob, then moving that Live macro knob will send out the same MIDI CC... so you're not limited to the instant mapping, you can do what you suggest, you just need to manually map the knobs instead...

Ok, and to clarify, by manually mapping you mean entering MIDI map mode, and hitting a function within lie followed by a knob on a controller, right? or is there a 'more manual' way of doing it.
