Looper Automation

Hey...
I am monitoring a guitar player via an audio channel. The channel has got loopers in it.
Right now i am switching one looper on and the other one off to loop different loops of the guitarplayer and to "mix" them within this channel.
BUT: Id love to loop stuff on the fly and f.e. instantly getting clips onto other audiochannels to be be able to mix them there.
The other possibility would be three monitoring channels with a looper in it...all monitoring the same guitar--> but will this affect the sound of the guitar if i layer the same input?
Any ideas how to build a multi-channel looper in live 8?
