How do I cut the reverb or delay, when new note is playing??

Hey guys,

I was wondering, if someone knows a way to do the following setting:

I have seen this in a Video on Youtube about a year ago and I cant remember how it was done.
What I am trying to do is, to cut the sound of a reverb or ping pong delay of a played midi note, when a new midi note is being played.
That way the reverbs of these two notes dont interfere with each other and when you release the note you just hear the reverb of the second note until the third note comes in.

How do I do this?

Hope to hear from you guys soon

(From the top of my head....)

I have a few solutions. One dum, one half measured and two complicated solutions. (almost in that order)

1. Create as many reverbs as you have keys on you keyboard and map each key to seperate on/off`s on all the reverbs corresponding to each key.
2. Create as many dummyclips as you have keys on you keyboard. Send a "envelope on/off"(for triggering a key) to on/off on the reverb. (not sure if this actually works)
3. Map a sustain pedal to on/off. Needs manual work..
4. Use a midi translator program. Make all the keys trigger the same midi message within the translator program and send it to Live. Then map it to on/off.

(Alternativly dry/wet)

Might work, might not work.. Not really sure. Currently at work.

edit: Actually none of these will work if you want the reverb stay on when you release a key.
You need some sort of a reset function that turns the reverb off and on again at the start of a key stroke. Might work with dummyclips.(2)

yeah I would use a gate and turn on the flip switch so the reverb only plays when there's more silence (depending on threshold)

This seems very interesting, I really like the idea. But in reality it actually sounds good?

A problem with one of the solutions above is that unfortunately Live (without resorting to MFL) has no toggle preference for midi commands. You need one message for on and one for off, it listens to the downstroke of a button but not as it comes back up (2 separate events). I would like to see a toggle option added so that the effect turns on/off with a single up/down movement of a button for example.

I've been surprised at its omission. I seem to remember being able to configure one of my controllers this way, but perhaps I'm mistaken or the ability was removed.
