So I recently switched to Ableton for Djing. I imported around 300-400 songs, warped them, made clips, named clips than saved them in one folder as ableton live sets (.als). Before moving onto the next song after saving as in my master folder I would always hit 'Collect All and Save' so the audio the live sets reference would be stored in the samples folder. This way when dragging a live set from the browser into my session the clips wouldn't have to locate/load the audio.

This was working perfectly until I decided to delete some of the live sets because I wasn't too into the songs anymore. After deleting them some of my other songs have to load when dragged into a session. Yet others don't need to at all, it seems very random.

Its a major pain if when I decide to remove some live sets from the master folder others will be affected in this way.... Does anyone know why Live is doing this?

I'm considering re-saving each live set into a new folder and collect all and saving them once again, but this would take a while and I don't want to do it every time I decide to delete a track from my master crate. Any help is much appreciated!

Sounds like you need to increase your cache size in Preferences. Every time you load an MP3 it converts it to WAV in the cache. The more tracks you have the larger cache you need, otherwise it will need to reload whatever doesn't fit into the cache each time.

One tip on gigantic caches: If your set gets REALLY huge and the cache needs to be reset for some reason, you may get an error when loading the set again. While the error is up you will see clips loading into the cache, so you can let them all load before closing and reopening Ableton again. A situational thing but something to make a note of for the future if your set is getting big.

Yeah, thats seems to have done it

I increased my cache size to 3GB and went through songs that were giving me troubles, re-loaded them and then after they loaded saved em again. Still have to go through my tracks but at least this should be avoided in the future now that my cache size is increased. Thanks alot!
