Problems with USB Quattro interface

When I start recording or listening a clip sudenly the sound turns very noisy and distortion. sometimes just seconds after having started, sometimes nothing happen and the session is normal.
When the problem appears, the solution is to change the sample frequency of the Quattro and set it back again in the original frequency to reset it, but after a while, the distortion comes again.

My notebook is Compaq EVO 1020 N with 1 Gb RAM, Pentium 4 2.4 GHz and my audio interface is M Audio Quattro.

What´s the problem? :?:

same problem w/ m-audio omnistudio usb

I'm getting the same kind of problem. I'm using m-audio omnistudio usb. I've tried changing the sample rate and changing drivers and I still get that nasty random distortion. My songs seem to not only distort but also slow down.

interesting though - I bypassed the omni studio and just tried using my laptop builtin driver and sound card and get some crackle and distortion but not nearly as bad.

I'm using HP pavilion notebook AMD athlon64 512ram 3GHz

This is really frustrating because I just purchased Live4 and would like to really get busy using the software. I'm not getting the same problem using Acid pro 5.

If anyone has a solution it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ok - I just changed my latency setting from very low to low and it seemed to help. I will do some more testing but hopefully this was the problem.

So, Did you find the solution changing the latency setting?
I have tried that but the problem still the same.
