When you purchase it, don't they just give you a Live Pack that you can open with Live, no other installation necessary?

There's an option in the preferences (but not in the betas iirc) to try the suite instruments the next time you load it.
Download the suite trial, then authorize Sampler from there. After that it should already be authorized in your other versions. That's what I did (iirc); maybe there's an easier way.
