Hey,
I've been using Ableton live to produce music, but now I've been offered to Dj live in a local club. And my knowledge about it is very limited, although the thing that's concerning me the most is external sound card. I really have no idea what to choose and how good of a sound card do I need? I will be using my laptop and I need an usb one.
So could someone give me advice on this? What are the main differences between sounds cards price-wise? I am a bit short on budget, so at how little i can pay for a decent quality sound card?

If you have a mac, then something from Apogee (One or Duet) is good for real high quality audio output. The cost $250-$500. You probably don't need multiple outs and ins, but if you do, then something in the same price range from another manufacturer would be good (roland, m-audio, etc). But these won't sound as good as apogee since they trade features for overall audio quality. With an audio interface, you're basically paying for features plus DA converters. With price being equal, the more features you have (like multiple ins and outs), the lower quality the converters will be. So just spend as much as you can afford (plus a little more) and it will be worth it in the long run.
