i did a test with EQ eight by putting the same wav file on two different tracks and inverting the phase on one of them so the sounds would null. i added EQ eight to one of them and it still nulled, but after turning on the high-quality mode there was a difference between the tracks. i don't get why the high-quality mode would color the signal when no tweaks had been made yet?

Different filtering to decrease aliasing would be my guess.

The HiQ EQ also adds two samples of (pdc-uncorrected) latency.
