Multi Track Looper

Hey!
Please help me out!
Ive got an open audio channel where a guitar player is playing live in. Ive put one looper in it so he can loop some grooves and play along with his own loop while we are jamming.
Now we'd love to have more loopers on his channel. BUT:
-) if i simply put more loopers on the channel, the second looper records the running loop of the first looper. Like i would overdub on the first looper.
-) if i combine the loopers and put them on different chains, they all record the live guitar signal exclusively (so far so good)...but the signal of the recorded loop is lower than the live signal because i kinda "split" the gain because the live signal is divided by the three looper chains. The sum of all three chains gives me a noisy signal of the guitar.
So what can i do to have a multi track looper on one monitoring audio track? Did i forget something? Are there any other tricks to get that done?
Thanks for your help and time,
Philip

my trick for that is a midi footpedal...you would need to give him more than one track though

Create a channel set to In. Create 4 or more channels set to Off. Have their inputs coming from the first channel. Record Arm those 4 channels. They will not make any sound unless a clip is playing in them. The main channel will always go to Master, but all the other channels will listen from it.
One last trick is to add a Looper to either an extra channel, or a return channel. Set it to only play back recorded audio. Then you have a Looper in the mix I case you want that functionality.
Mapping, map scene up/down buttons, and the play button for each of those 4 channels. (those ones only appear in midi map mode). And map the Looper.
How I use it is, I'll start by using the Looper to set a tempo. Then I'll jam for a bit, get a feel. I'll trigger track 2 and record a loop, retrigger it and keep playing as that clip loops. Record into track 3 etc. and possibly stop the clip in the Looper if I'm bored with it. If I hit Scene Down, I can start replacing loops with new ones. Lastly I can go back up a scene and retrigger an earlier loop. Or I can erase Looper and record a new riff and overdub over it.
Helps most to have multifx on the first channel. That will give the instrument sound qualities that would stay with it when recording new clips.
Play around with that setup and see if it gives any ideas

You can create as many "loopers" as you can tracks. I do this myself for live looping. Mine are all summed to one group track, but there are other ways to do it.
Read up a little on the Looper plugin in the manual. There are a couple important settings to know about in order to avoid re-recording what's already been looped. One thing is to set the Input -> Output to "Never".

Hey..back again!
Ive checked everything out in the manual but somehow i dont get it quite right...
What id love to do is to put two or three loopers on the one channel that monitors the live guitar.
But what are the right settings, that every looper exclusively plays what he has recorded from the live signal but not what another looper is already playing on this channel.
My plan would be a kind of channel Submix of both the monitored signal as well as loops recorded from the guitar (that are played and stopped within the mix)...
Its hard for me to figure out what setting (Always, never, Rec/ovr, rec/ovr/stop) works for my plan...brainf..ck
All the best, Philip

You can create a Rack. This way the Loopers are in parallel. Have one thru channel.

Hey yur2die4!
Ive tried that..combined three of them and put every looper in another chain...
...the thing was that this situation kinda divided the gain of the incoming signal, so a recorded loop always became app. 40% less loud than the monitored guitar playing along with it.
Or do you mean a "drum" rack?

You need to figure out through experimentation the best setting on the Looper. I think in this case it would be Never. Hopefully what you'll experience is no sound at all except for when the Looperplays back. So while you are playing you hear no sound.
The best way to experiment with this:
Add Looper to a channel
Group it so it is in a Rack
Name channel "looper1"
Create second channel in Rack called "thru"
Select looper1 and play instrument into channel
Adjust setting to see which only allows audio through the thru channel
Try recording a loop in looper1. Hopefully you will always only hear the audio from the looper while it is actually looping.
Once it is working, duplicate the looper1 channel
One last thing, I think of you search YouTube for "multiple loopers" afrodjmac, or someone else actually describes a setup that they use

Hey!
Thank you all for your time and input!
