Hi there,

I am working with Live 8 Suite (full version with EIC) and would like to know if and how I can map the vibrato on the violin sound to my pitch wheel. Thanks for any help!

Are you sure you want it on your pitch wheel? I bet you also have a modwheel?
You can access Lives MIDI mapping with the button to right and assign a controller to whatever you want.

click the map button up by the cpu monitor, click the vibrato, then move your wheel of choice.

Thanks for the responses.

I am not sure which "element" of the violin instrument I can use to control the vibrato in Live 8. Maybe there isn't one and the samples just have built in vibrato that cannot be modified?

if htere isn't a macro for "Vibrato", you'll have to check, whether this was set up in the sampler or not. Open the Rack view, and see, if any LFO is assigned to pitch or something.

You need to map a couple of the macros - Motion is the level of vibrato and Motion Speed is the intensity of vibrato, you'll need to adjust and automate both to get a more realistic sound. You might also want to add a Filter Delay set with low time settings to give a little more impression of multiple instruments. Again, the feedback, pan, volume nd time of the delays should all be adjusted throughout to give it more life - only needs minor adjustments. An element of Reverb goes without saying :)

As far as I understood, "Motion" is more of a Tremolo and not a Vibrato effect? Is this different between instruments?

It's possibly not the same thing, but I find that tweaking everything a bit here and there always helps make it sounds more realistic :)
